Artist History

Randy De Leon, a.k.a. REBORNZ, is a native of Los Angeles, California, who discovered his love for art at a very young age. Ever since he was a child, he enjoyed drawing funky animals. As a young adult in the late 90s and early 2000s, he seized every opportunity to express his creativity through graffiti and actively participated in the street art scene.

REBORNZ is a name that symbolizes his rebirth. Previously known by an old street name that represents his past life, he decided to reinvent himself to pursue his artistic career and gain recognition for his work. His journey was far from smooth; he faced numerous challenges and found himself in trouble frequently as he sought ways to express himself. From hanging out with a Los Angeles tagging crew to sneaking out at night to cover the streets with his art, he encountered many dangerous situations, including having guns drawn on him by gang members or shop owners, being searched by police, and experiencing falls from roofs among many other unimaginable incidents.

His troubles culminated in a jail stint, where he had the chance to reflect on how to lead a more respectable path and become a better artist and role model. This period of reflection inspired him to create a new identity and seek other avenues to survive and channel his creativity. In 2004, he adopted the name REBORNZ, signaling his desire to leave the past behind and embark on a better path. With dedication and hard work, he honed his artistic skills and earned a degree in communication arts.

Artist Statement:

Art, for me, is a conversation between the seen and the unseen, a journey through layers of reality and perception. My work aims to transcend the boundaries of the tangible world, delving into the realms of emotion, memory, and the subconscious. Through the interplay of color, texture, and form, I seek to evoke a sense of wonder and introspection in the viewer.
